ShowUp is a small team. There's no ticket queue and no bot — write to us and a person reads it, usually within a day or two.

🐞Report a bug
Tell us your username, your iPhone model, and what you were doing when it broke. That trio solves most of them.
How does a check-in work?
Open the habit and tap Check in. ShowUp takes a live photo or a five-second video through the app's own camera — you can't upload from your camera roll, which is the whole point. Your partner or group sees the proof.
I checked in but my streak didn't move.
Streaks only count on days the habit is actually scheduled. A weekday habit doesn't break over the weekend, and a “3× per week” habit counts toward a weekly target rather than a daily one.
If the day was scheduled and the streak still looks wrong, email us with your username and the habit name and we'll look at the record directly.
How do I find a partner?
Open a habit without a partner and browse the Open deck — swipe right to send a request, left to pass. You can also invite someone you already know from the habit screen, or open a habit up to a group — four people in total, so you and three others.
It says I'm out of join requests.
There are two limits on the Open deck, both there to stop it being spammed: five requests waiting for an answer at once, and ten sent in any rolling 24 hours. Each request that gets answered frees a slot straight away.
What is a Streak Save?
A token that covers a day you missed. Everyone starts with one, you earn another each time a habit reaches a seven-day streak, and you can hold three at most.
Spending one is your call — nobody has to approve it, though your partner is told. Use it on today before the day ends, or restore a day you already missed within 24 hours of that miss being recorded — the clock starts at your local midnight, not from when you noticed.
I'm going away. Do I lose everything?
No. Turn on Vacationfrom the habit screen and those days stop counting against you — your streak is frozen rather than broken, and your group won't see the days as misses.
I'm not getting reminders.
Check two places. In ShowUp, open Settings → Notifications and confirm the reminder categories you want are on. Then check iOS Settings → Notifications → ShowUp — if you declined the permission prompt when you signed up, iOS blocks everything regardless of what the app says.
What does ShowUp read from Apple Health?
Three things, and only to verify habits you set up to be checked automatically: your running workouts, your walking and running distance, and your step count. Distance covers “run X miles” habits and steps cover “walk X steps” habits. Nothing else is read — not heart rate, sleep, weight, or any other category.
The read is one-way. ShowUp never writes anything back to Apple Health — the app doesn't even ask for write permission.
Anything entered into Health by hand doesn't count. Only workouts and steps actually recorded by a device or app can verify a habit, which is rather the point.
You can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → ShowUp. Your habits keep working; they just go back to photo proof.
My Strava runs aren't showing up.
ShowUp doesn't connect to Strava directly — there's no Strava login anywhere in the app, and there's nothing to authorise. Strava writes your runs into Apple Health, and ShowUp reads them from there. So if a run is missing, the switch to flip is inside Strava.
In Strava: open your profile, tap Settings (the gear), choose “Applications, Services & Devices”, tap Health, and allow all categories. Your next run flows through automatically. ShowUp shows the same steps under Settings → Integrations.
Garmin, Nike Run Club, Peloton and Apple Watch all work the same way — turn on Apple Health sharing inside that app, and we'll see the workout.
Two things that will still keep a run from counting: it has to be recorded as a run(walks and hikes are separate activity types in Health, though treadmill runs are fine), and it can't be typed in by hand — only workouts a device or app actually recorded can verify a habit. Give the run a minute to sync to Health before you check in.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account and confirm. This is permanent: your profile, habits, check-ins, photos, streaks, messages and connections are erased.
If you can no longer sign in, email us from the address on the account and we'll delete it for you.
Can I change my username or display name?
Yes — Profile → Edit profile. Your username has to be unique; your display name doesn't.
Who can see my check-in photos?
The people on the habit always see the proof. Whether a check-in also reaches the public feed depends on the habit's privacy setting, which you choose when you create it and can change afterwards.
Full detail lives in our Privacy Policy.
Report anything that doesn't belong
Every post, comment, profile and message has a Report and a Blockaction behind the “⋯” menu. Blocking takes effect immediately and is one-way — the other person isn't told. Manage everyone you've blocked under Settings → Blocked accounts.
Reports go to a human. We remove content that breaks our Terms of Service and suspend accounts that keep doing it. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first, then tell us at partnerships@theshowup.app.
